  1. Life Observations: My parents rock.

    March 26, 2009 by me

During this recession, even for the ones who are living right at their means (aka me), it’s still pretty tough. So it comes as an emotional (and physical) relief that my parents are still around to help me out. Yes, I am 28 years old, and my parents still buy me groceries.

    cabinet of food

Now having a full cabinet of groceries has its drawbacks too…ok, no it doesn’t. The only drawback I had was that I couldn’t fit my I-talian breadsticks in the cabinet. So they reside in my oven basket.

    fridge

Now my fridge is a whole ‘nother story. I have a mini-apartment-sized, bigger than a work fridge but smaller than a full fridge. And honestly, it has never been this full. Maybe the first time I moved in, and we realized that I would be the only one eating food, but seriously, it’s bustin’ at the seams. And for that, I am grateful.

So thank you, Mom and Dad, for feeding your daughter. Her stomach is very happy.

So with all this food, with fresh salad and chicken, tuna and eggs, meats and cheeses, all this variety, you know what I had for dinner tonight?

    Cereal and s’mores.

  2. TV OD: I'm a proud promo mama…

    March 24, 2009 by me

I have to share cause I am lovin’ on this promo that I created for a new channel coming to Chicago’s PBS station called WTTW Prime. It’s prime time, all the time. Don’t want to watch kids shows in the morning? Tune in to find cooking shows instead. Want more public affairs? Tune in Friday for a 2-hour public affair block. Watch Chicago Tonight at 10pm. See great documentaries you missed on the regular WTTW channel. It’s just chalk full of more stuff. Like my favorite, Masterpiece. Love it.

The first couple weeks are themed weeks, so tune in! For more information, see http://rabbitear.wordpress.com/

If you have an antenna and got a converter box, it’s on digital channel 11.2. Here’s the channel line-up:

    Digital Channel 11.2
    Comcast 243
    RCN 611
    AT&T 1011

I don’t usually toot my own horn (I know, I’m learning), so enjoy!

  3. Music: "Soulmate" makes me want to go to Uptown Theatre

    March 22, 2009 by me

So, I was a big fan of her brother’s in London when I heard this song:

But now I am a huge fan of hers because of songs like “Unwritten”, “Single”, and this, “Soulmate”. But now that I’ve put them side-by-side, they both have that romantic, haunting, melodic melody that is fantastic.

So while I was listening to this song for the first time, I kept picturing the Uptown Theatre…Don’t ask me why, but the song has that haunting damsel-in-distress melody that makes me think of running through a Phantom of the Opera-type movie palace…I have always wanted to shoot a music video in a creepy, haunted, yet beautiful movie palace…it’s on my bucket list… And suddenly I’m wondering…why hasn’t anyone ever shot at the Uptown Theatre in Uptown, Chicago? What an awesome backdrop that would be. Check out these haunting pics while listening to “Soulmate”:

I wish someone would save all the old movie houses and preserve them. That kind of beauty doesn’t exist anymore.
