  1. Daily Inspires: A Jar Full of Love

    February 14, 2011 by me

If someone can love this, surely you are loved!

Yes, it’s a “made by commercial card companies to get a few bucks between Christmas and Mom’s Day” holiday, but we celebrate it all the same. I have never had a good Valentine’s Day. When I was in a relationship, it was either over hyped and didn’t deliver, or it was non-existent and pathetic. As a singleton, it has been anything from depressing to exhilarating and every emotion in between. But a couple years ago I decided that I was sick of waiting around for “my Prince Charming” to deliver the Godiva Chocolate box and roses that I am programmed to want. So I just started to accept the day for what it is: wearing red lipstick and red shoes and smiling at strangers. It’s not so much about how much you can spend on a box of chocolates (that will be on sale tomorrow morning), or what restaurant you’re seen eating at. It’s about loving the people around you. Loving yourself. Loving your life.

If you have a significant other, just stare into their eyes and say, “I love you”, and that should be enough.

To all my singleton’s out there…if you have been in love once, you already know how much it is worth it. But one thing is for sure, one thing I know firsthand is, you have to love yourself before you can ever let love in. While you’re at it, you might as well spread love around. You are only as good as you put out in the universe. Everybody deserves to be loved.

So I spread some Valentine’s Day goodness (in the form of pb M&Ms) to my co-workers, because we’ve all needed a little love in the office lately (blame it on the snow, but we’ve all been grumpy McGrumpitens lately). Here are my cuteness in a jar:

And here is my daily inspires. Valentine’s Day list of things I love:
    Ollie McGee
    Mint chocolate Chip ice cream
    Pinot Noir
Any  film or TV show that gets me out of my head (see Inception or Fringe)
    Reading in silence
    Berry martinis
    Gerber daisies
    Rocker sunglasses
    Shoes!
    Hot Chocolate with marshmallows
    My Nook
    Old journals
    New possibilities!

  3. Quote This: Choose your thoughts.

    March 31, 2009 by me

A college roommate of mine just sent this to me and I had to post. So whether you hate your job but can’t leave, hate your boyfriend but don’t want to leave, or just life in general, enjoy.

From Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, Pray, Love”:

“There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”
